Hi!
I began this project because I was always being asked, "Where do I find birds in Plenty Gorge?"
The answer, as any sane person would have expected, turned out to be far more involved than I initially imagined. I began assembling a paper reference but quickly realised a website was far more accessible and flexible. Since I knew absolutely zero about making websites, that was a steep learning curve! So it was a challenge, but not unenjoyable.Â
I hope you found what you were looking for!
Please feel free to send questions or feedback to plentybirds1234@gmail.com.
I've been birding in the Gorge since about 2009, when my children got big enough to not want my attendance in all their various concerns. I haven't got tired of it yet! I go walking there at least a couple of times a week, plus leading birdwalks for Parks Vic and the Friends of Plenty River Gorge. I also give talks on birds and local geology to community groups like U3A. In between I co-lead Birdlife Melbourne's Photography Group, and do as much travelling in Victoria and around Australia as I can.
Previously I was a teacher of biology, chemistry, maths and science at northern suburbs state schools for 40 years, retiring in 2021.
Regards, Peter Bennet
